Every year, more than 20,000 people invest in themselves by returning to school at the Independent Learning Centre (ILC). TVO administers the ILC, Ontario’s largest distance learning provider, that provides learners with the opportunity to study and attain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma or complete their GED certification.
Over the weekend, TVO hosted the annual ILC & GED Graduation and Awards Ceremony. It is always a highlight of the year for us at TVO. It is truly inspiring to hear the students’ stories of their paths to education. Many have overcome adversity to return to school in order to further their education, enhance their careers and achieve long-standing life goals.
It was also a great honour to have the Minister of Education, Hon. Liz Sandals speak at the graduation ceremony.
This year’s valedictorians spoke of their quest for knowledge over the course of their lives. Both valedictorians came to the ILC later in life (in their 80s) and offered the following advice to their fellow grads: “there is so much more to learn.”
We are pleased to be a part of so many important learning journeys and wish all of our ILC graduates the very best in their endeavours.
Congratulations, class of 2014!
