Igniting a Love of Learning at the Word on the Street

I love a good book and I’m always excited to recommend a great read. I could feel that sense of joy for the written word and the power of learning last weekend when I attended The Word on the Street festival.

This literacy-focused festival celebrates Canadian authors along with reading and writing for the whole family. We were thrilled to be a part of the celebrations again this year with fun and educational live performances on the TVOKids stage.  I always appreciate seeing so many young families in the audience joining in with our talented TVOKids hosts and special musical guests. This year we brought along the Reading Rangers Docville interactive tent where thousands of young fans enjoyed online activities and helped to write the “longest story that TVOKids has ever seen.”

It was also a great pleasure to have Premier Kathleen Wynne join us on the TVOKids stage to read the book, Gifts by Jo Ellen Bogart and Barbara Reid.

It’s always great to get out into the community and meet TVO supporters and to witness first-hand how we’re making a difference in people’s lives.
