TVO Advances Media Literacy on International Day of Education

International Day of Education

TVO Media Education Group (TVO) is committed to fostering lifelong learning by equipping Ontarians with the knowledge and critical thinking skills they need to make informed decisions about the issues shaping our society. That’s why, on this International Day of Education—January 24, 2026—we are focusing efforts to advance media literacy and ensure it remains at the forefront of our educational and journalistic content.

In an era where information flows faster than ever, and misinformation can spread just as quickly, the ability to critically evaluate media is no longer optional; it’s essential. Media literacy equips individuals to question sources, analyze content, and navigate digital spaces safely and responsibly.

Through trusted educational programming, interactive resources, and partnerships with educators, TVO empowers learners of all ages to question, analyze, and understand the media they consume. Programs like Big [If True], which dives deep into the facts behind trending stories, and The Rundown, which helps audiences make sense of complex current events, are designed to foster critical thinking and informed decision-making. Alongside TVOkids and TVO Learn resources, these offerings ensure that Ontarians of all ages have the tools to separate fact from fiction.

By fostering media literacy skills, we help build a society where individuals can confidently navigate the digital world, make evidence-based decisions, and contribute meaningfully to democratic life.

Media literacy is education for the modern age, and at TVO, we’re continuing to make it accessible for everyone.
