On July 1, 2015, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced the recipients of the Order of Canada. TVO is proud to announce that Lisa de Wilde has been appointed to the Order of Canada, joining a group of exceptional Canadians awarded this tremendous honour.
The Order of Canada recognizes “outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.” Lisa receives this honour for “her contributions to public broadcasting, notably for her transformative leadership at TVO.”
Lisa has been serving as Chief Executive Officer of TVO for almost 10 years, but her contributions to Canadian media include, among many other things, being the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and a former legal counsel for the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission. Prior to joining TVO, she was Astral Television’s President and CEO during a pivotal time in their history. In 2009, Lisa was recognized with the WXN Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award. She is also a mentor, setting aside time to nurture the talent of so many, including young women and men, who have gone on to make important impacts in Canadian life.
Congratulations to Lisa and the other appointees.
