For many people, physics is a boring class they had to take in high school. But on October 7 at 7:00 p.m., Neil Turok, director of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, will explain why he is so excited about the future of physics – and why everyone else should be too.
Turok’s presentation, “The Astonishing Simplicity of Everything,” will argue that fundamental physics has reached a turning point. The most powerful experiments ever devised are revealing the structure of the universe with unprecedented clarity. Humankind is on the threshold of breakthroughs which could change our picture of the world and the development of our society.
TVO is pleased to stream this live event here, on this page, the evening of October 7. Turok’s presentation will be tailored for the general public, and no mathematical or scientific knowledge is necessary or assumed.
This presentation is the first in the Perimeter Institute’s 2015-16 public lecture series. Lectures will be scheduled at the beginning of every month, and TVO will be streaming the entire series.
