Sparking a Love of Learning at The Word on the Street

On Sunday I had the pleasure of attending one of my favourite events for the year – The Word on the Street book and magazine festival. This annual event champions literacy and celebrates the amazing literary talent we have in Canada.

Every year, the TVOKids team puts on a fun and educational stage show. This year’s program featured TVOKids hosts Gisèle, Kara, Daniel and Melissa, along with the casts of Sports Lab, Odd Squad, Annedroids and Hi Opie. Hundreds of kids (and their parents) had a great time, dancing, singing and learning!

We were honoured to again have the Hon. Kathleen Wynne join us on the TVOKids stage. She read the book Stanley at School by Canadian author Linda Bailey and illustrator Bill Slavin.

Kids and parents also had the opportunity to participate in STEAM-themed interactive activities put on by the TVOKids team including stations that taught the science of selfies and the mechanics of gears.

Participating in community events like this, and seeing first-hand the impact we have on Ontarians of all ages, is one of the many joys of being part of TVO.
