Celebrated career highlighted by numerous honours, including the prestigious Donald Brittain Award
Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Jane Jankovic, the executive producer of documentaries at TVO Today Docs, has announced her retirement after nearly 30 years as a producer and commissioning editor with TVO. She commissioned more than 100 films that over the years have garnered many nominations and awards. These include David & Me, The Defector, Migrant Dreams, The Polar Sea, Prey, There Are No Fakes and Donald Brittain Award winners such as Broke, Sugar Coated and Ghosts of Afghanistan.
“This is a bittersweet moment for TVO, and for documentaries in Canada as a whole. Jane has made an extraordinary impact,” says John Ferri, VP of Programming and Content at TVO. “Documentaries are one of this country’s greatest cultural offerings to the world and Jane has upheld this tradition with her visionary leadership. We can’t wait to see what she does next.”
TVO Today Docs will continue commissioning, broadcasting and streaming documentaries as normal while TVO considers its next steps. Learn more about pitching documentaries to TVO here and stream TVO Today Docs at TVO.org, YouTube, smart TV services (e.g., Roku) and the TVO Today mobile app.
