TVO’s Fall/Winter Lineup Features New Kids Series and the Highly Anticipated Soccer Doc ‘The Pitch’

This November and December, audiences can look forward to new feature documentaries like The Pitch and Coexistence, My Ass! and the new and surprising kids’ series Burps, Butts and Bones.

New TVO Original Documentaries 

The Pitch *Documentary* (100 min) Premieres Sunday, November 9. Olympic soccer star Diana Matheson as she attempts to establish the first professional women’s soccer league in Canada. Offering rare behind-the-scenes access, viewers will get to witness her bold attempt to change the game and her refusal to play by the old rules against a system that has sidelined women for decades. TVO Docs 

Deception: World War II *Docuseries* (4 x 60) Premieres Tuesday, November 4. This four-part chronological series that weaves tales of the deception and countermeasures used by both sides of the Second World War to deadly effect. Featured as part of our Remembrance Day programming, this series honors soldiers and heroes who fought – and sacrificed everything – for their nation. Arthur Erickson: Beauty Between the Lines *Documentary* (80 min) Premieres Friday, November 14. In his own words, Arthur Erickson has “always refused to compromise” when it comes to his art. From drawing a daffodil as a young boy to becoming one of Canada’s most famed architects, Erickson designed Simon Fraser University, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, and Roy Thompson Hall. While his work profoundly shaped the modern landscape, behind the accolades lay a complex individual grappling with triumphs and tragedies. Broadcast info: Sunday, November 16 at 9 p.m. ET.

Maps of Power *Docuseries* (3 x 50) Premieres Monday, November 17. This three-part documentary posits that geography is the ultimate creator of nations, exploring how mountains, rivers, seas, and deserts have influenced the rise (and fall) of civilizations. By looking at current global powers, the United States, China, and Russia, these episodes explain the importance of land and water access, trade routes the way today’s global powers owe their status and significance to natural resources. Send Kelp *Documentary* (90 min) Premieres Friday, November 21. Follow Frances Ward, a self-professed “Seaweed Nerd” and adventurer, on an odyssey that brings her into the vast oceans of the Pacific where she intends to build one of the first farms of its kind in British Columbia. To coax a crop from the wild Pacific, she’ll need help from scientists, wild harvesters, and entrepreneurs who know the challenges and astonishing potential of this miraculous organism. Tiny Islands *Docuseries* (4 x 60) Premieres Tuesday, December 2.Tiny Islands explores a set of magical island-hopping adventures across Britain’s greatest hidden treasures. Celebrating the secret places, extraordinary people, surprising jobs and gripping local history that make our ‘tiny islands’ wonders of the world. How We Celebrate Christmas *Holiday Special* (60 min) Premieres Friday, December 5. How We Celebrate Christmas explores the heartwarming traditions of the world’s most cherished holiday. From ancient solstice rituals to the modern-day Santa Claus, we uncover the origins of Christmas trees, lights, and festivities. Journey across the globe from America’s grand public tree lighting to playful Scandinavian customs and Japan’s quirky KFC tradition. Coexistence, My Ass! *Documentary* (95 min) Premieres Friday, December 12.  Made by a team with both Jewish and Arab backgrounds (including Canadian EP Ina Fichman), Coexistence, My Ass! follows Israeli activist-comedian Noam Shuster Eliassi as she creates a comedy show by the same name. Shot over five tumultuous years, the film traces Noam’s personal, professional, and political journey in tandem with the region’s steady deterioration. Citizen Minutes (Season 1 Compilation) *Short Film Compilation* (60 min) Premieres Thursday, December 18. This collection of short documentaries spotlights ordinary Canadians doing extraordinary things to make their communities better places. Meet bold and unlikely changemakers who inspire us to jump in and get involved in civic issues close to our homes and hearts. Revisit the ordinary people who took on social justice causes with extraordinary results during the first season of Citizen Minutes. Broadcast info: Thursday, December 18 at 9 p.m. ET.

How We Celebrate New Year’s Eve *Holiday Special*(60 min) Premieres Friday, December 26. Take a thrilling journey through humanity’s biggest celebration, exploring traditions that span the globe. From Mesopotamia’s Akitu festival to Bolivia’s Aymara New Year, to India’s Diwali lights, China’s dragon dances, and North Macedonia’s Vevčani carnival.  Travel from Scotland to Germany and all the way to Dubai, Sydney and New York city to see how people ring in the new year. New TVOkids Originals  

Wild Kratts (Season 7) *New episodes* (4 x 5:30) Premieres Tuesday, November 4. Chris and Martin Kratt are back with incredible wildlife encounters around the globe. Combining fun with education, each adventure explores an age-appropriate science concept central to an animal’s life and shows never-before-seen behaviour. The new season starts off with four new episodes featuring the loon, armadillo, leopard, and the butternut tree. Broadcast info: Tuesday, November 4 at 5:20 p.m. ET.

Burps, Butts and Bones *Debut Season* (26 x 11 and 26 digital shorts) Digital premiere on Friday, November 21. Meet Bones, the wisecracking medical skeleton and host of TVOkids’ brand-new show, Burps, Butts and Bones. Tune in to listen to the laugh-out-loud “bod-cast” where no body part is off limits! With help from his curious B Squad and real-life experts, Bones dives deep into the weirdest, wildest wonders of the human body, teaching all of us about what our amazing bodies can do. A PAW Patrol Christmas *Holiday Special* (44 min) Premieres Friday, November 28. A PAW Patrol Christmas features a mix of original and classic holiday songs in a heartwarming story following construction-savvy pup Rubble. He is looking forward to Santa bringing him a new laser drill, but things take a turn when Santa comes down with a cold and can’t deliver any presents. When Mayor Humdinger decides he’s going to the North Pole to take all the gifts for himself, it’s up to the PAW Patrol to stop him. Broadcast info: Friday, November 28 at 6 p.m. ET.
