New preschool animated series premieres March 25 for National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day
Toronto, Ontario, March 7, 2025 – TVOkids spotlights the playtime adventures of five-year-old girl living with cerebral palsy (CP) in the original series Polly Can Do (20 x 2’). The series will be available to stream across Canada starting March 25, in honor of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day.
In each lighthearted episode, Polly brings her ‘can do’ attitude which empowers her to live her best life. Along the way, she also helps her friends solve kid-relatable issues, from collaborating in the playground to working through anxiety, learning to share and knowing when to ask for help.
The series development of Polly Can Do was supported by Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Toronto) and the Cerebral Palsy Canada Network. The representation of Polly’s challenges and how she navigates childhood are based on real discussions with children living with CP and the series’ sandbox features are based on the accessible sand tables found at Holland Bloorview. Polly is voiced by Jackie Palmer-McPherson, a Holland Bloorview client and actor who is also living with CP, bringing an authentic and empowering voice to the character.
Co-produced by Ontario-based Milkcow Media Inc. and Big Jump Entertainment Inc., Polly Can Do is created, written and directed by Emmy winner Alexander Bar (Mike the Knight, Ranger Rob, Ricky Zoom) and produced by Dominique Jabbour, with Rick Morrison as Executive Producer and Cory Morrison as Assistant Director. For TVOkids, Kirsten Hurd is the Commissioning Editor. The series is supported by the CMF-Shaw Rocket Fund’s Kids Digital Animated Series Program.
Polly Can Do will be available to stream on the TVOkids YouTube, Smart TV app and TVOkids.com on March 25 at 11 am ET before making its broadcast premiere on TVO on April 8 at 7:10 am ET.
