New school-age series co-produced with Big Jump Entertainment premieres June 7, 2021

TVO and Big Jump Entertainment are thrilled to announce the Monday, June 7, 2021 premiere of TVOkids Original Big Words, Small Stories on TVOkids, TVOkids.com and the TVOkids YouTube channel. School-age children will learn their Astoundings, Bamboozles and Conundrums in these delightful five-minute episodes.

“Vocabulary development is hugely important for children and has profound positive effects on social, emotional and reading comprehension skills,” said Marney Malabar, Director of Kids TV, TVO. “With Big Words, Small Stories, young viewers can joyfully engage with new words and discover their meanings. We won’t ‘procrastinate’ to bring the ‘hullabaloo’ to our ‘spectacular’ audience!”

This brightly animated series focuses on funny and delightful stories that bring the meaning of big words to life. Told through the eyes of a revolving cast of four children and their human-like pets, each episode brings a ‘gargantuan’ word into their lives. At the centre of the show’s world, a hard-working Sprinkle Fairy and her staff, the candy-like Sprinklers, showcase the new words with helpful context and a lot of silliness.

The series is based on the book series created and authored Judith Henderson and illustrated by T.L. McBeth. The series is published by Kids Can Press.

“When author Judith Henderson brought her wonderful book series Big Words, Small Stories to Big Jump Entertainment, we knew it was going to work excellently for kid’s television,” says Rick Morrison, President, Big Jump Entertainment. “It educates through silliness—which we consider to be the best possible method—while giving children the opportunity to outsmart their parents. What kid doesn’t want to do that?”

Expand your child’s vocabulary (and your own!) with the series premiere of TVOkids Original Big Words, Small Stories at 12:40 PM ET on Monday, June 7, 2021 on TVOkids, TVOkids.com and the TVOkids YouTube channel.
