Toronto, Canada, October 15, 2025 – TVO Media Education Group (TVO) proudly accepts two Signal Awards for TVO Podcast The Oath, earning a win for Silver in the True Crime category and Bronze in Best Show Artwork for cover art design.
The Signal Awards recognizes the most potent, meaningful and unprecedented audio projects being made today. According to The Signal Awards, a record-breaking 385,000+ votes were cast this year by over 127,000 voters around the world. It is an honour to be recognized in this space by the esteemed panel of The Signal Awards Judging Academy, which is made up of a diverse collective of members from all over the world, who work in podcasting as engineers, CEOs, executive producers, content developers, and hosts.
TVO Today podcast, The Oath, examines the case of Dr. Melvyn Iscove, whose medical license was revoked in 2018 for allegedly sexually abusing two patients. The team behind the podcast examines the medical regulator’s record of transparency and accountability, the impact on patients, and why some critics believe the system needs to be overhauled.
“The producers of The Oath invested two years of gum-shoe journalism and deep digging into this case, seeking answers for patients who said the system had failed them. It’s a true example of how important this work is in giving a voice to the less powerful and holding the more powerful to account when the system has not,” says Laurie Few, Digital Executive Producer at TVO.
All winners receive a coveted Signal Award and the opportunity to attend a special event to celebrate the creative talent behind the year’s most impressive podcasts. This year, TVO graphic designer Jasmine El Kurd is a recipient for her unique design featuring bold use of colour and texture.
“This podcast tile art is just one example of the incredible artistic skill of graphic artist, Jasmine El Kurd. In a 3×4 inch square, she can visually communicate more about the content than by writing a thousand words. She is a master of the art and, dare I say, a graphic genius,” says Laurie Few, Digital Executive Producer at TVO.
The Oath was nominated in three categories: True Crime Genre, Best Show Artwork, and the Listener’s Choice Award. Congratulations to the team for continuing to innovate, push boundaries, and share important stories. Made possible by the generous support of the Barry and Laurie Green Family Charitable Trust, The Oath is a powerful TVO Original Podcast investigative series that sparks important conversations about accountability and ethics in healthcare.
