Toronto, Ontario, Canada – TVO Media Education Group is thrilled to announce that many of its high-profile documentaries and series from the past year have been nominated for the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards. With 26 nominations across 20 categories, 2022 can be viewed as a banner year for TVO Today and TVOkids and the many thousands of viewers across Ontario and Canada who enjoyed these productions.

“As someone who witnesses just how much work goes into every single series and film at TVO, I can say that the teams behind these productions well deserve this recognition,” says John Ferri, VP of Programming and Content at TVO. “I’m delighted to see so many of our TVO Originals and TVOkids Originals earn nominations. That tells me our efforts are really resonating with the people of Ontario.”

Honoured TVO Original documentaries include Beautiful Scars, outstanding for its intimate storytelling, and The Perfect Story, which explored the complicated terrain between journalism and filmmaking. Come Clean told a timely, powerful story of addiction at home in our communities. Another TVO Original, perhaps the film with the greatest nostalgic impact for Ontarians, is Magic Shadows, a documentary portrait of a specific moment in time for movie-lovers in this province.

TVOkids series have long been among the strongest contenders in prominent celebrations like the Canadian Screen Awards, and this year is no different. TVOkids Original series like Gabby’s Farm, 16 Hudson, Leo’s Pollinators, Odd Squad Mobile Unit, All-Round Champion and Raven’s Quest drew acclaim alongside favourites like PAW Patrol and Let’s Go Luna!

Viewers can enjoy many of these documentaries and series through the TVO and TVOkids broadcast channel, or stream them online from TVO Today, TVOkids.com, YouTube (TVO Today Docs, TVOkids) and smart TV services like Apple TV and Roku.
