This International Women’s Day, TVO Media Education Group (TVO) celebrates the contributions and achievements of women, and we reaffirm our commitment to raising women’s voices and stories. We go to great lengths to ensure we are telling stories through the lens of women and supporting women-led projects throughout everything we do.
This month’s programming is a perfect example of our commitment, starting with the untold stories of courage and resilience of women who defied expectations in World War II in the documentary series On the Front Lines. And later this month we will be featuring the TVO Original Your Tomorrow led by Canadian director Ali Weinstein. At TVO, we believe it is critical to offer women the space to take creative risks with storytelling and to feel confident that their broadcast partner believes in their ability to execute their vision to the highest degree.
As a social-impact organization, it matters to TVO that all Ontarians, including girls and young women, can see themselves and their potential in the content we provide. Whether it’s watching woman-led shows like Big [If True] and The Thread with Nam Kiwanuka or accessing learning resources and podcasts that highlight women’s stories and issues, TVO is proud to contribute to the ongoing journey of celebrating, amplifying, and advocating for women’s voices.
