Toronto, Ontario, June 2, 2026 — TVO Media Education Group (TVO) is announcing a new international partnership with the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMMEdu) of the University of Chile to pilot a TVO‑developed course planning and development platform. The platform, called Atlas MLP, is designed to support accessible, adaptive digital learning, and is currently used by TVO to develop on-line courses for the Ontario Ministry of Education.

The pilot project, funded by the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), brings together TVO’s expertise as Ontario’s designated distance‑learning provider with the University of Chile’s academic and data‑science leadership. The University of Chile will use Atlas MLP to pilot a mathematics course delivered through a third-party learning management system in a blended‑learning environment.  This project has the support of Chile’s Ministry of Education and the Belen Educa Foundation.

“This partnership reflects the global reputation of Ontario’s Education system,” said Owen Lambert, Vice President and Chief Technology Officerat TVO. “Atlas MLP is an example of how public‑sector innovation developed in Ontario can create international value while helping educators deliver more inclusive, scalable, adaptive learning to meet modern demands.”

Atlas MLP helps educators create courses and easily adapt them for diverse learner needs, supporting accessibility, efficient curriculum updates, and personalized learning pathways. The pilot will include three school boards and ten schools in Chile, representing a mix of rural and urban settings. Insights from the project will help inform the future development of Atlas MLP as TVO explores opportunities for broader local and international collaboration.

“Today, the possibility for students to choose what they want to study still depends too much on where they live, the size of their school, or whether specialized teachers are available in their community,” said Salomé Martínez, professor at the Department of Mathematical Engineering of the University of Chile and Director of the CMM Education Laboratory. “Through this project, we are not only testing a digital tool; we are working to build a replicable model that can expand educational opportunities and strengthen long-term capacities within the Chilean school system.”

Atlas MLP was showcased at the 2026 Conference of the International Society for Design and Development in Education in Santiago, Chile on May 18-20.
