"We always go backcountry camping in Algonquin Provincial Park to kick off the summer camping season each year. This year our 4-year-old son spent almost the entire trip catching frogs and toads and teaching his 2.5-year-old friend how to catch them. There were many bug bites, great pictures, and fond memories brought home."

"We went backcountry camping in our canoe, paddled to the site and unloaded. Took us a while but then we noticed we ... forgot the tent!! We are a 30-minute paddle and 1.5-hour drive to anywhere LOL. We used blankets and tarps and had to make a DIY tent for 2 nights. Thank goodness the bugs weren't too bad. Hahahah, good times."
Sarah C.
"My friends and I went to Bon Echo park a few summers ago. The water and cliffs are beautiful there! We also had a few bright-eyed racoons very eager to enjoy some of our camp BBQ food, but we managed to keep them away."
Kevin M.
"Tubing the Elora Gorge! So magnificent and perfect on a hot summer's day! I've always wanted to do it. Elora is also a beautiful small town to explore!"
Christina G.
"My most memorable summer adventure was when I was a young kid and went to Wasaga Beach with my mom and sister. I still remember how the sun felt on my skin and the sand in between my toes."
Kevyn C.
"Standing on the shore of Driftwood Provincial Park, I marveled at the majestic Quebec mountains. Suddenly, a hummingbird darted across the lake, pausing inches from my face. It hovered there, its tiny wings a blur, gazing at me with an intensity that made time stand still."
Sandy B.
"Went to Lanark county to a friend's cottage right by the lake. Sitting in a tube tied to the dock while having a nice cold drink in the summer weather was amazing. Then played various lawn games and had such a relaxing and fun time. Got to love Ontario summers! Especially cottage living!"
Harrish T.
"A memorable summer was the year of 2013 when I went to Stratford, Ontario with my sister. We had lots of fun, did some shopping and went to plays. We always like watching and feeding the ducks by the pond."
Alisa E.
"When I was much much younger, my mom and I would just "up and go" sometimes on road trips all over Ontario, looking for cool things to do. The Gem Jamboree, Cranberry Festival, just swimming in a lake we had never been to. One of the coolest memories I have was one day driving home and passing by a cave just off the road - of course we pulled over. We investigated into the first part of the cave, found some old rail tracks and a rusted-out mine cart just inside the darkness. We didn't dare venture further for safety reasons, but it was an awesome little adventure for 10-year-old me. "
Jon T.
"A while ago we went to a beautiful town called Perth, Ontario. As you're driving closer to it there are rocks on the side of the road. This town is about one hour away from Ottawa. It is a quiet peaceful and wonderful place to go. I could spend my whole summer there. Balderson cheese store is in this town and is always a place we stop and we bring back cheese in the cooler."
Amy G.
"This year I took my mother to Sandbanks Provincial Park in beautiful Prince Edward County. It was a beautiful day and at her age she absolutely loved it. She really enjoys swimming and that is what she did the whole time we were there. Loved seeing that smile on her face."
Tammy M.
"When I was young I went camping with my family. During our trip we went fishing from the shore and eventually I caught a small fish. While my excited mom went to grab her camera, I placed the fish in the water while it was still on my hook. My mom returned ready to take the picture, and when I pulled my line back up, and even bigger fish was on my line and had eaten the first fish that I caught!"
Luke I.
"Hiking the Bruce peninsula with friends was amazing. We got to see the sun rise against the lake and it was such a great experience to share with my friends. We went swimming and hiking, it was a great vacation just a few hours away from the city. "
Stephanie S.
"For Canada Day we visited Boyd Conservation Park and were blown away with how expansive the grounds were, playing near the stream, crossing over a bridge, hiking and exploring were highlights of our day. What an awesome outdoor experience that left lasting memories. We will be sure to return sometime soon to explore more."
Vicki N.
"It has been an honour and a privilege to attend a camp in Ontario as a camper and a counsellor. Camping not only provides skills to the camper but allows the child to make many friends. My camp friends from the '60s have been meeting at camp reunions for many years. These friends come from Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Colorado, USA. This September we will meet again at camp in Ontario. It is so exciting to return to camp!"
Carol D.
"The most memorable trip I have had in Ontario was taking our boat (cabin cruiser) on the Trent-Severn Waterway. We spent a week exploring the Kawartha Region by water. It was amazing!!!! We are going to try to go every year and alternate between the Trent Severn and the Rideau Canals! What a great place to live! We have access to such amazing experiences and the most beautiful scenery anywhere!"
April C.
"We took our 2-year-old and 4-month-old camping for the first time in May. We went to Long Point Provincial Park and we loved the beach!"
Rachel L.
"Under a beautiful blue sky we set out to Vaughn, Ontario for three days of fun. We rode roller coasters, giggled our way through a trampoline obstacle course, and played swimming games together as a family. Even driving there and home again was an adventure. To see the landscape change from rural to urban and witness all the beauty of the region."
Rebecca S.
"On our return from a recent road trip to Montreal for a special event, a wedding we stopped to enjoy the beauty and serenity at a cottage in South Frontenac. How glorious the natural surroundings were and very relaxing!"
Marla H.
"Our family had a really fun and memorable time in Wolfe Island Ontario. There was this very unique ferry ride to the island. The people were all so kind and happy, just living the relax island life. We really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and just a short ferry ride from Kingston."
Hanh T.
"I took my kids to a pick-your-own strawberry patch. They really liked seeing how the farm equipment worked as well as picking the strawberries. It seemed that for every one that went into their basket, one went into their mouths! We then turned it into jam, ice cream, compote and just ate them. My kids are already looking forward to next year's outing."
Frances R.
"When our five children were young, we would take them for day trips to provincial parks throughout Ontario, Sandbanks being our favourite! We would make sandwiches and snacks for the kids and go swimming and fishing in the evening. Now that we have 7 grandchildren, we continue this tradition at our local provincial park for a day of family fun, food and fond memories for years to come!"
Alayne L.
"My sister lives up in Sudbury. We went up to visit her one summer during the long weekend after she had my nephew. We were able to go on lots of nice walks on walking paths and visit the big nickel. It was a lot of fun!"
Samantha C.
"When I was a kid, my aunt & Uncle took my brother & I along with their kids on a camping trip to Bon Echo park. My Uncle taught us to canoe, we had campfires and went swimming. We'd never camped before and had a wonderful time, especially with our "cool" older cousins. I look back on that as some of the happiest, most carefree of my childhood."
Catrina L.
"We went to Kincardine and went kayaking. My three friends went together in a boat, two experienced and one not and also didn't swim. The two experienced friends had fun going over rapids frontways, sideways and backwards."
Eric F.
"This summer my family went camping at Arrowhead Provincial Park. My kids got to try canoeing for the first time on Arrowhead Lake. They loved stopping at all the beaches to swim or jump off the dock. Our evenings ended with sunset bike rides and ghost stories around the campfire."
Cassandra W.
"My son and I stayed at a cabin at Valens Conservation Area and saw the night's stars. We made up stories about the constellations we knew and didn't know. It was an indelible memory with my son."
Matt N.
"My first visit to Manitoulin Island. When we drove off the Chi-Cheemaun, we had no idea what sites we would see. The dunes, Bridal Veil Falls. Such a great place to visit!"
Jaqueline K.
"Driving up to northern Ontario on the Trans-Canada highway. Staying at a fishing resort and fishing on one of the most beautiful and serene lakes. I will always remember these trips we had."
